Draft — needs legal review. This document was prepared to accurately describe how the app currently works, but it has not been reviewed by an attorney. Replace every [BRACKETED] placeholder and have counsel review it before launch.
Kept runs entirely in your browser. Your orders, moods, savings goals, and Vault balance are stored on your device only. We do not have accounts, we do not have a server that stores your activity, and we cannot see your data. Clearing your browser data deletes everything, permanently, including from our reach — because it was never in our reach.
One exception, and only if you switch it on: the optional real street map downloads map imagery from a third-party map provider, which reveals your approximate area to them. It is off by default unless you grant location, and you can disable it in Settings. Details in §5 Location.
[LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“Kept”, “we”, “us”) operates the Kept app. You can reach us at [CONTACT EMAIL].
Kept saves your activity using your browser’s localStorage. This is a storage area on your own device. It is not transmitted to us.
| What | Examples | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Your activity | Simulated orders, items, amounts “kept”, streaks, karma, ratings | Your device |
| Your mood check-ins | How you felt before and after an order | Your device |
| Your goals & Vault | Goal name and target, simulated Vault balance and sweeps | Your device |
| Your custom cravings | Text you type in the “fake-order anything” field | Your device |
| Delivery address | The address text you type, and optionally your device coordinates | Your device |
| Preferences | Currency, sound on/off, whether you’ve seen onboarding | Your device |
| Usage events | Counts of actions such as opening a store or completing an order | Your device (see §4) |
Kept records simple product-usage events (for example: app opened, store opened, order completed, Vault sweep) so we can understand which features are useful.
Currently these events are stored only on your device and are not transmitted anywhere. You can view them in the app under Settings → Funnel, and erase them with “Reset local event log”.
Events are designed to avoid personal information. They contain event names, rounded numbers, and an anonymous, randomly generated identifier stored on your device. They do not include the text of your custom cravings, your goal names, or any free-form text you type.
If we later send analytics to a third-party provider (such as [PROVIDER]), we will update this policy before doing so and identify the provider here. [ADD PROVIDER, PURPOSE, AND LINK TO THEIR PRIVACY POLICY WHEN APPLICABLE]
Kept lets you save a delivery address so the simulated order has somewhere to not arrive. Typing an address is entirely optional and free-form — it is never validated, looked up, or geocoded by anyone.
You may also optionally tap “Use my location”. If you allow it, your browser or device provides approximate coordinates. Kept uses them for exactly two things, both computed on your device:
If “Real street map” is enabled in Settings and you have granted location, the tracking screen shows an actual map. Drawing it requires downloading map imagery (“tiles”) from a map provider, [CARTO / OpenStreetMap — CONFIRM YOUR FINAL PROVIDER].
Requesting map tiles necessarily tells that provider roughly which area is being viewed, along with your IP address — the same as any website showing a map. This is the only feature in Kept that sends anything off your device. Kept itself still receives nothing: we have no server and no copy of your location. Your exact coordinates are not uploaded — tiles are requested by map square.
See the provider’s privacy policy: [LINK TO TILE PROVIDER PRIVACY POLICY]
Settings → Delivery map → Real street map → Off. Kept then draws a stylised map entirely on your device, generated from a coarse, rounded version of your coordinates. In that mode nothing about your location leaves your device at all. The offline map is also used automatically whenever you have no connection or the map provider is unreachable.
Declining location entirely also works — the map simply improvises. You can clear a saved location at any time via Settings → “Reset all data”.
Mood check-ins describe how you feel, and your craving history reflects spending impulses. We treat this as sensitive. It is why Kept is built to keep that information on your device rather than on a server. We do not use it for advertising, we do not profile you for third parties, and we do not disclose it.
Kept is a self-help and entertainment tool. It is not a medical device, not therapy, and not a diagnostic service. See the Terms of Use.
The app is served as static files by our hosting provider, [HOSTING PROVIDER]. Like most web hosts, they may automatically log basic technical request information (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to build profiles. See [LINK TO HOST'S PRIVACY POLICY].
Kept does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. It uses localStorage strictly to make the app work — to remember your progress and preferences between visits.
Because your data lives on your device and we hold no copy, we generally cannot access, export, correct, or delete it on your behalf — you have direct and complete control. If you have a request or question, contact [CONTACT EMAIL].

Kept is not directed to children and is intended for users [13/16/18] and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. [CONFIRM THE CORRECT AGE THRESHOLD FOR YOUR MARKETS WITH COUNSEL.]
If we make material changes — particularly if we introduce accounts, server-side storage, or third-party analytics — we will update this page and revise the “last updated” date above.
